Autism Services

Autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and intervention is a focused concentration of our practice. We administer the Autism Disorder Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2) which is considered the gold standard in autism evaluation.

Psychological Evaluations

We specialize in psychological evaluations for individuals ages 3-21. We provide comprehensive evaluation reports including test results, diagnostic impressions, and specifically tailored recommendations

Therapy & Treatment

We provide individual and family therapy services for children, adolescents, and families to alleviate social and emotional concerns. If your child is having behaviors or emotional reactions that are atypical, we can help.

Brandi Tanner, Ph.D.

Dr. Tanner has over fifteen years of experience working with children and adolescents with learning, emotional, and behavioral problems. Her unique combination of experience as a special education teacher and psychologist allow her not only to conduct evaluations, but also to recommend and provide interventions that are effective and feasible. Having spent several years working for school districts, Dr. Tanner is well-versed in special education procedures, Response to Intervention (RtI), and 504 accommodation plans, making her uniquely qualified to provide consultation for educational programming.

Dr. Tanner conducts comprehensive assessments for a variety of purposes. The evaluations can be used for diagnostic clarification for learning disabilities or dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, depression, developmental disorders, and intellectual disabilities diagnosis. The evaluation reports can be used for private school admission and program planning, diagnostic clarification for treatment planning, special education eligibility determination, Independent Education Evaluations (IEE), and Katie Beckett Deeming Waiver eligibility.

Dr. Tanner received specific training in autism spectrum disorders while completing her doctoral level internship in an autism clinic. She has provided services in an autism clinic, residential centers, public schools, and in private practice. Her specialized expertise includes administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2) which is considered to be the gold standard in autism diagnosis.

Dr. Tanner received degrees in elementary and special education from West Virginia University. She was awarded her Ph.D. in School Psychology from University of South Florida. She completed her APA-approved doctoral internship at the Hope Institute for Children and Families and The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP). Dr. Tanner’s postdoctoral training was completed in a private practice where she focused on assessment of autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems in children and adolsecents.

Kendra Witherspoon, LPC

Ms. Kendra Witherspoon is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor with years of experience working with at risk youth and families.

Earning her Bachelor’s degree at Auburn University and Master’s degrees in Professional Counseling and Public Health Promotion at Liberty University, she is a compassionate, insightful, and creative clinician who maintains years of experience in educational advocacy for at risk populations, clinical case management and assessment, non-profit programming and directing, and wellness and prevention public health promotion. She has also spent 16 years in military service and over 20 years in performing arts.

She has training in trauma focused care in children, crisis intervention and supports, expressive arts, and family systems. She has experience in working with children and teens in the foster care system with symptoms of anger/aggression, depression and anxiety, impulsivity, communication struggles and family/social relational conflicts.

Her work with youth focuses on building self-esteem and self-concept, increasing coping skills, and decreasing angry or disruptive behaviors while fostering creativity, self-love, and personal insight and emotional intellect.

She focuses in Cognitive Behavioral, Strength based and Solutions Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, and Creative Integrative approaches to meeting your child’s wellness and counseling goals. She believes in the consideration of the “whole self” by taking a holistic standpoint in helping your child be the best they can be.

LaTonya Bell, MA, LPC

LaTonya Bell, MA, LPC is a licensed professional counselor who enjoys individual and family treatment with pre-teens, adolescents, adults and couples. Ms. Bell finds motivation and passion through healing others who are experiencing life struggles and are seeking assistance with coping with life stressors. Ms. Bell assists individuals who are dealing with concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, relational problems, and conflict resolution. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person Centered therapeutic frameworks to address thought processes and behaviors. Ms. Bell has achieved inspiration in assisting individuals and families find healthy perceptions of themselves while strengthening the foundations of family and self.

Ms. Bell, obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The State University of West Georgia, and her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Argosy University. Ms. Bell has over 10 years of experience working in various clinical settings including community outpatient programs, inpatient psychiatric facilities, CORE programs, and managed care organizations.

In her spare time, Ms. Bell, who is an avid sports fan, also enjoys reading, writing novels, and serving the community. Autism Services

  • Autism Evaluations – The evaluation process begins with an initial consultation appointment. The evaluation will include testing sessions with your child, behavior rating scales, and caregiver interview. At the feedback session, you will receive a copy of your child’s evaluation report including test results, diagnostic impressions, and specifically tailored recommendations.
  • Treatment Sessions – Treatment sessions are typically 45-50 minutes per session. The frequency of the sessions depends on the needs of the child and family. Caregivers are involved in the treatment.

 

Psychological Evaluations

We specialize in psychological evaluations and diagnose and treat many conditions including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and developmental disorders including intellectual disabilities. We also provide educational and achievement testing for educational planning purposes such as gifted evaluations or private school placement. We provide evaluations for Katie Beckett Deeming waiver eligibility.

The evaluation process begins with an initial consultation appointment where you will share information about your specific concerns regarding your child. We use this information to develop an individualized battery of tests. Your child will participate in one or more testing appointments and we will also collect information through rating scales or other sources. At the feedback session, you will receive a copy of your child’s evaluation report including test results, diagnostic impressions, and specifically tailored recommendations.

 

Treatment & Therapy

We provide individual and family therapy services for children, adolescents, and families to alleviate social and emotional concerns. If your child is having behaviors or emotional reactions that are atypical, we can help. Individuals who have been diagnosed with developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders may benefit from therapy. Individuals coping with symptoms of sadness and worry can also benefit from therapy to practice effective coping skills.

Fees and Payments

Payment

Cash, check and credit cards are accepted for payment. Clients may also use funds from Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Savings Accounts (HSAs),or Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) to pay for services.

 

Insurance

We currently have providers who are in network with several companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, and Medicaid. This list changes periodically so please contact us for the most up to date information about insurance.

If we are not in network with your insurance company, our services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan as an Out-of-Network provider. We will provide you with a superbill which is a statement that you may use to file claims with your insurance.

It is recommended that you contact your insurance company to inquire about your coverage including copays, co-insurance, deductibles, pre-authorizations or limits which may apply to mental health or behavioral health services.

The office is located at 2801 Buford Highway NE in the Druid Chase office building. It is on Buford Highway between N. Druid Hills Rd and Lenox Rd/Cheshire Bridge. There is plenty of free parking. The office is on the 5th floor. When you exit the elevator, turn right and to Suite 501 / 503 at the end of the hall.

 

From GA 400 Southbound (Northern Suburbs)

  • Take Exit 1. Turn left on Sydney Marcus Blvd.
  • Go 1/4 mile and turn left onto Buford Highway.
  • Cross Lenox Rd. Go 1/2 a mile. Turn right into the office at the red sign that reads 2801 Druid Chase. You will see a Shell gas station across the street from this entrance.

From I-75 / I-85 Northbound / Midtown / Downtown Atlanta (Exit 86) (Atlanta and Southern Suburbs)

  • Take I-85 North to the Buford Highway/GA-13N exit
  • Cross Lenox Rd. Go 1/2 a mile. Turn right into the office at the red sign that reads 2801 Druid Chase. You will see a Shell gas station across the street from this entrance.

From I-75 / I-85 Northbound / Midtown / Downtown Atlanta (Exit 89) (Atlanta and Southern Suburbs)

  • Take the North Druid Hills Rd exit, Exit 89. Stay in left lane and loop around to North Druid Hills Rd.
  • Turn right on to North Druid Hills Rd and go 1/4 mile to Buford Highway.
  • Turn left onto Buford Highway.
  • Go 1/3 mile on Buford and turn left into the entrance for 2801 Druid Chase. You will see a Shell gas station across the street from this entrance.  There is a median on Buford Highway, so you may need to make a U-turn in order to turn left into the entrance. Note when you are on Buford Highway, there are two entrances to the Druid Chase Office Park.

From I-85 Southbound (Northeast Suburbs)

  • Take the North Druid Hills Rd exit, Exit 89.
  • Turn right on to North Druid Hills Rd and go 1/4 mile to Buford Highway.
  • Turn left onto Buford Highway.
  • Go 1/3 mile on Buford and turn left into the entrance for 2801 Druid Chase.
